Under Federal and State laws, it is illegal for an employer to fire, demote, mistreat, harass, or retaliate against an employee in any way for whistle blowing. Whistle blowing refers to the act in which an employee reports or blows the whistleon their employer for violating the law. Several federal statutes with regards to whistleblower claims have been enacted to protect employees who speak out against employer wrongdoings, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Title VII, and OSHA. Employees are protected under these laws even if the employer they suspected of wrongdoing turned out to be found to be in compliance with the law.
At Onyejekwe & Associates, we represent clients who blew the whistle on employers suspected of committing the following types of violations:
•Environmental Violations
•Financial Fraud or Financial Violations
•Heath and Safety Violations
•Employee Relations Violations (harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, etc.)
If you have suffered from retaliation from your employer after reporting them to authorities for engaging in unlawful behavior, we can help.
